ASPROGUATE was founded just two years ago in 2014, with the mission to manage the coffee production and social development of small coffee producers by providing differentiated access to markets. Representing more than 1950 small producers from the regions of Acatenango and San Martin Jilotepeque (both located in Chimaltenango), and Cobán in Atla Verapaz, all coffee from APROGUATE is Fair Trade and Organic Certified.
It is a standout lot from producers located in the northern region of Alta Verapaz in the Cobán rainforest. This area is characterized by heavy clouds, cool temperatures and precipitation most of the year, with an astounding average annual rainfall of 3,500mm. Coffee from Cobán is cultivated on the rolling hills of the rain forest, which is made up of limestone and clay soils, and also under the tropical influence of the Atlantic Basin. This cup is characterized by tropical fruit, blackberry, bright acidity, and a syrupy body.
